Please call (403) 256-4641.
How many people live at Father Lacombe Care Centre?
112 people live at Father Lacombe Care Centre, with approximately 85 additional people from the community participating in our Adult Day Support Program.
Are all residents and clients seniors?
Although most of our residents and clients are senior (age 65 and over) we are home to many other older adults who have chronic medical conditions. Some are physically frail while others require care for dementia-related diseases, such as Alzheimer Disease.
Are all residents and clients Catholic?
Although Father Lacombe Care Centre is Catholic-based, the care is inclusive and non-denominational. Our core values of excellence, compassion, justice, spirituality and sacredness of life are inherent in our care for everyone.
Why do you fundraise? Doesn’t the government pay for everything?
Alberta Health Services funds medical service and some capital costs at accredited care centres. Residents pay ‘hotel’ or accommodation costs. Most capital costs such as care equipment and operating systems require additional funding from other sources.
How are operations different in a non-profit facility?
Registered charitable facilities like Father Lacombe Care Centre can seek capital funding through donations rather than additional fees, and can channel extra income directly to resident and client care.
What are some examples of non-funded capital costs?
Specialized beds, bathtubs, and lifts are the most basic examples of the kind of equipment required to care for frail adults in safety and comfort.
What is a social model of care?
A social model of care creates an environment that is more home-like than hospital-like. Father Lacombe Care Centre is a place where children and pets are welcome. Father Lacombe Care Centre is also home to a variety of birds, fish and Missy, the cat.
