Therapeutic Services

Therapeutic Services plays an important role at Father Lacombe Care Centre. Aligned with our Social Model of Care, our Mission and Values, Therapeutic Services is continually changing and adapting to ensure we are best serving the needs of our residents.

Under the direction of TS Coordinator, our qualified therapists provide physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and recreational therapy to our residents. Each of our Therapists are qualified and registered to their affiliated Alberta Professional Association.

Our Therapy Assistants participate in the preparation, implementation, documentation and evaluation of assigned Therapeutic Services programs, treatments and services to the residents of Father Lacombe Care Centre.

Physiotherapy

The Physiotherapist conducts treatment programs directed toward the prevention or alleviation of movement dysfunction resulting from pain, congenital anomalies, disease processes, aging, injury, or inactivity.

Occupational Therapy

The Occupational Therapist conducts Occupational Therapy programs directed toward the prevention &/or alleviation of occupational performance resulting from pain; congenital anomalies, disease processes, problems secondary to aging, from accident or injury, inactivity and from psychological or social stress. The Occupational Therapist focuses in the areas of seating and positioning, pressure application and relief and wound care.

Recreational Therapy

The Recreation Therapist is responsible for meeting resident's leisure needs. Through designing, planning, implementing, scheduling and evaluating therapeutic recreation programs, the Recreation Therapist provides interventions and activities that address the social, physical, cognitive and emotional domains.
