Visitor Policy
Includes: resident/client family members/friends, volunteers, and all other individuals who conduct business on FLCC premises.
To ensure visitors are knowledgeable of health and safety policies relative to their presence at Father Lacombe Care Centre and to protect residents, staff, visitors and the property of the facility, the Father Lacombe Care Centre has developed the following policy:
All visitors to FLCC shall report to the reception desk during work hours or to the nursing units at other times.
All visitors should acquaint themselves with FLCC's Mission and Values, FLCC's floor plan, and emergency exits. (This information is available at the main entrance, Reception desk and nursing stations.)
Visitors to Father Lacombe Care Centre shall conduct themselves in a safe and appropriate manner.
All visitors must respect the privacy of others by keeping their personal and/or medical information (verbal, written, or any other form) private and confidential.
All interactions with residents, staff, other visitors, and pets must be conducted with respect.
All visitors will agree to assisting and maintaining a healthy and safe environment.
As FLCC could be experiencing isolated cases of infections such as gastrointestinal or respiratory infections, all visitors will practice infection prevention and control measures as advised by Management and/or nursing staff.
all visitors will wash their hands (use alcohol rub provided) upon entering and leaving the facility.
All visitors must use and wear personal protective equipment as required by Health and Safety standards.
Visitors who are ill (ie. cold, flu) should call nursing units prior to visiting.
In the event of an outbreak, visits to the facility will be restricted.
Visitors will identify themselves to staff and clarify with staff appropriate aspects of care pertaining to the resident they are visiting (ie. food, drink, medication, hands-on involvement).
Visitors must obey the following rules of conduct at all times:
Follow all verbal instructions and signs.
Do not touch or attempt to operate any care centre's equipment, machine, or device unless authorized to do so.
Stay out of restricted areas.
Visiting hours are from 0800 hrs - 2100 hrs, seven days a week. Exceptions are at the discretion of the Registered Nurse.
Children accompanying visitors must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Pets accompanying visitors must be leashed and in control.
Father Lacombe Care Centre is a non-smoking environment for visitors. Visitors cannot smoke in the facility or anywhere on the grounds.
Any injury, hazard, or problem, no matter how minor, must be reported to staff immediately.
Visitors are encouraged to share their concerns with staff.
In the event of emergency, all visitors must report to reception desk or nursing station.
Visitors who fail to follow these policies will have their visiting privileges revoked and be asked to leave. FLCC shall not be responsible for injuries visitors suffer as a result of violating these rules.
Note: In our effort to maintain a home like environment for our residents, FLCC houses pets such as a cat, birds and fish.
