Areas of Volunteering

To volunteer at Father Lacombe Care Centre, please call (403) 254-6285 or fill out our online application form

1. Pastoral and Palliative Care

Palliative Care volunteers must be available for on-call duty. Pastoral Care volunteers visit residents on a 1:1 basis. Both placements are under the direct supervision of the Pastoral Care Coordinator and require training offsite prior to placement.

For more information please contact the Pastoral Care Coordinator (403) 254-6282.

2. Therapeutic Services

There are several opportunities with this department. There are recreation programs run by staff who enjoy the assistance of volunteers; there are programs that are volunteer led (eg. Gift Shop); there is a 1:1 social visit program where volunteers meet with selected residents on an ongoing basis; and there are outings that require the added assistance of a volunteer.

3. Adult Day Support Program

This program serves clients who still live in the community but come to Father Lacombe Care Centre for the day. Volunteers assist on a daily basis or for outings only.

4. Outreach Programs

Through the Pet Access League Society (PALS) selected residents enjoy visits from screened pets and their owners twice monthly.

5. Nursing

Our Meal Assistance Program has trained volunteers to assist our residents to eat during breakfast, lunch and dinner under the complete supervision of staff. Volunteers are also utilized to escort residents to offsite appointments when family members are unable to attend themselves.

6. Fundraising/Special Events/Administration

Volunteers can help with various administrative or project management aspects of fund development for Father Albert Lacombe Home Society.
